General Information For Employers

Austins Quality Training Services strives to provide a varied and well structured progammes of training which meets the needs of local employers and provides a workforce with the necessary professional and technical skills to serve a growing local catering and hospitality industry.

Training in the Workplace

The trainee spends the majority of their training with the employer experiencing and learning skills in the workplace. They attend the training centre for select block sessions where structure technical and professional training is carried out. Liaison takes place on a regular basis between employers and tutors to ensure that training and workplace practice are co-ordinated. Tutors will visit the workplace to carry out one-to-one training ensuring that the skills delivered are appropriate to the needs of the employer and candidate.

In order to achieve their qualification, it is important that the trainee is given a broad range of tasks and activities so that they can gather evidence to show their ability to do the job. This may be in the form of photocopies of documents, letters, witness testimonies from their supervisor and observations made by their assessor (Training Officer) or workplace supervisor.

Duration of Courses

The length of time a trainee has on the training programme will depend on the candidate's needs, current knowledge and workplace experience.

Training for Success

Training for Success is a funded training provision for young adults already in employment and wishing to achieve a suitable qualification. All candidates taking part in the Training For Success programme must be in full time employment. Full details are available on request.
